Addiction and mental health
are rarely separate.
Dual diagnosis means a person has both a substance use disorder and at least one mental health condition at the same time. They are deeply connected. One feeds the other, and treating only one while ignoring the other is one of the main reasons people relapse.
Research shows that roughly half of people with addiction also have a co-occurring mental health condition. In our experience at Willow Grove, that number feels low.
