Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
Structured therapy, group support, and coping tools — while you live at home and keep working. Serving Clarksville, TN and the surrounding area.
What an intensive outpatient program is
An intensive outpatient program, or IOP, gives you structured therapy, group support, and coping tools while you live at home. Sessions run several times a week and are scheduled so you can hold down a job, go to school, and be present for your family at the same time.
If residential treatment isn’t the right fit for your situation, IOP can be a starting point. If you’ve already been through residential care or PHP, IOP is the step that keeps you supported while you take your independence back.
How IOP works
You attend therapy and group sessions on a set weekly schedule and go home afterward. That means you practice recovery in the same environment where you’ll actually have to live it — with real triggers, real stress, and real people — while still having a clinical team to bring it all back to each week.
Your schedule is built around your obligations and your care plan. Call (931) 410-6400 and we’ll tell you what the weekly commitment would look like for you.
What IOP includes
Building a life you want to live
As you step back into everyday life, we help you build the skills and support you need to stay strong in recovery — at work, at home, and everywhere in between.
Resilience — coping skills
Learn strategies to handle stress and triggers so you can stay strong in your sobriety, even when life gets tough.
Responsibility — vocational training
Practical tools and coaching to help you find and maintain employment to support your new life.
Relationships — family integration
Reconnect with loved ones and rebuild healthy relationships, with guidance and support for everyone involved.
IOP or PHP: which one do you need?
PHP takes up most of your day, most days of the week, and offers closer clinical oversight. IOP is a lighter weekly commitment designed to fit around work and family. If you’ve just left residential care, PHP is usually the safer step. If you’re further along, or you have real stability at home and obligations you can’t drop, IOP is often the better fit.
Who IOP is right for
IOP works well if you have a safe, sober place to live, if you need to keep working or caring for your family while in treatment, or if you’re stepping down from a higher level of care and want to keep structure in place. It’s also an option if residential treatment isn’t realistic for you right now. If there’s a mental health condition in the picture too, we treat both together — see our dual diagnosis care.

Frequently asked questions
Can I work or go to school while in IOP?
Yes. That’s what IOP is designed for. Sessions are scheduled so you can keep your job, your classes, and your family responsibilities.
Do I have to go to rehab first?
Not necessarily. If residential treatment isn’t the right fit, IOP can be your starting point. We assess your situation first and recommend the level of care that actually matches it.
How many days a week is IOP?
IOP runs multiple sessions per week. Your exact schedule depends on your care plan and your insurance authorization — call (931) 410-6400 and we’ll go over it with you.
Where do I live during IOP?
At home. IOP assumes you have a stable, sober living situation. If you don’t, tell us and we’ll help you look at options, including a higher level of care.
Do you accept insurance for IOP?
We accept Ambetter, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and UnitedHealthcare, plus Medicaid and private pay. Call (931) 410-6400 and we can verify your benefits.
What happens when IOP ends?
You join our alumni program, which keeps you connected to support groups, counseling, 12-step workshops, and a community of people who’ve been through the same thing.
