What residential rehab is

Residential rehab, also called inpatient treatment, means you live on campus while you get treatment. You have a structured daily routine, a clinical team, and support available 24/7. Removing the people, places, and pressures tied to using gives you the space to focus on recovery without having to manage everyday life at the same time.

At Willow Grove Recovery, residential care is where the deeper work happens. Detox settles the body. Residential is where you untangle the causes underneath the using, process what hurts, and build the emotional strength to move forward.

If you don’t need detox, you can start here. Our clinical team assesses you at admission and places you at the right level of care.

How long residential treatment lasts

Most people stay 30 to 60 days. The right length depends on your history, your progress, and what your life looks like when you step down. Your team reviews your plan with you as you go rather than holding you to a fixed number on day one.

What a day looks like

Therapy

Individual sessions to address the underlying issues and your personal goals, plus group therapy for shared insight, connection, and growth rooted in 12-step principles.

Recovery education

Practical instruction on how addiction works, what drives relapse, and the skills that keep recovery steady once structure is removed.

Experiential work

Patients work with our goats and chickens, tend the gardens, hike the trails, and take part in meaningful farm work. These are grounding experiences that build confidence, purpose, and connection in a way that talking alone doesn’t.

Community

Recreational activities to unwind, build relationships, and learn to enjoy life again, alongside peer support from trained specialists with lived experience.

Therapy modalities we use

Care is trauma-informed and guided by the 12-step framework, supported by:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy — a practical, evidence-based approach that helps people identify and change unhelpful thoughts and behaviors
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy — a skills-based approach for managing emotions, improving relationships, and building resilience
  • Motivational Interviewing — a collaborative approach that helps you explore and strengthen your own motivation for change
  • Trauma-Informed Therapy — care that prioritizes safety, trust, and empowerment throughout healing
  • Experiential Therapy — hands-on activities and creative expression to explore emotions and build insight

Who residential care is right for

Residential is usually the right fit if home isn’t a safe or stable place to get sober, if outpatient treatment hasn’t held before, if there’s a co-occurring mental health condition alongside the substance use, or if you simply need distance from the environment tied to your using. If you’re not sure, call us and we’ll talk it through honestly.

We also treat co-occurring conditions. Learn more about our dual diagnosis care.

Where residential fits in your care

Residential treatment isn’t meant to be the whole plan. Most people arrive from medical detox and step down into partial hospitalization or an intensive outpatient program, then stay connected through our alumni program. Keeping it all in one place means nothing gets lost in the handoff.

Our levels of care
Medical Detox — 7–14 days, 24/7 clinical care
Residential Rehab — 30–60 days, live-in treatment (you are here)
Partial Hospitalization (PHP) — Day treatment, evenings at home
Intensive Outpatient (IOP) — Structured therapy, living at home
Alumni Program — Ongoing support for life

Frequently asked questions

How long is residential rehab at Willow Grove?

Most stays run 30 to 60 days. Your care team reviews your progress with you and recommends when it makes sense to step down to a lower level of care.

Do I have to detox first?

Only if you need it. We assess your medical and substance use history at admission. If withdrawal management is needed, you start in detox. If not, you go straight into residential.

What can I bring with me?

Bring comfortable clothes, any current prescriptions, and your ID and insurance card. Call us before you arrive and we’ll walk you through the full list.

Can my family be involved?

Yes. Family involvement is part of the plan, and family integration continues through our outpatient programming as you rebuild relationships.

Do you accept insurance for residential treatment?

We accept Ambetter, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and UnitedHealthcare, plus Medicaid and private pay. Call (931) 410-6400 and we can verify your benefits.

What happens after residential rehab?

You step down into PHP or IOP, and then join the alumni program for long-term support.

Ready to start?

Recovery is possible, and you don’t have to figure out the first step alone. Call us and we’ll help you find the right level of care.
